Our Activities

According to the scientific community, there will be a substantial increase in the world’s population in the coming years, reaching some 8.0 billion people within 20 years, and 11.0 billion by 2050. This will have important consequences for the environment:

  • Water scarcity. In 20 years, 50% of the population could suffer from famine.
  • An increase in industrial and domestic waste levels.
  • A significant increase in energy demand. This will not only create a problem in terms of how to meet this demand, but if the appropriate measures are not taken, it will lead to a significant increase in greenhouse gas emissions and the greenhouse effect.

In order to do so, Befesa furnishes feasible solutions to two of these problems through its four major activities:
